Care

The daffodil is a hardy and easy-care spring bloomer. With the right care, you can enjoy its fresh flowers for as long as possible.

Water

The daffodil needs little water. A small amount of water at the bottom of the vase is sufficient so the roots can reach the water. Too much water can cause the bulb to rot.

Place and light

Place the daffodil in a bright spot. Indoors, avoid direct sunlight or a heat source. Outdoors, the daffodil prefers a sheltered spot.

Temperature

Cooler temperatures prolong flowering. An ideal environment is between 10 and 18°C. In light frost, the daffodil can remain outdoors; in severe frost, protection is recommended.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I care for a daffodil in a glass vase indoors?

Place the vase in a bright spot, but out of direct sunlight. Keep the bulb slightly moist: there may be a small amount of water in the vase, but the bulb itself should not be constantly submerged. A cool space will prolong the flowering period.

Can I reuse the daffodil after flowering?

Yes. After flowering, you can remove the spent flowers and let the bulb die back. The bulb can then be planted in the garden or in a pot, where it can bloom again the following spring.

How do I care for a daffodil in a glass vase outside?

Place the vase outside in a sheltered spot, out of direct rain and wind. Ensure excess water can drain and that the bulb doesn't remain wet for extended periods. This isn't a problem during light frost, but in severe frost, we recommend bringing the vase indoors temporarily.
